This won't fly because the simplistic model for immigration bills is -
D(hispanic) + D(labor) + D(neutral) + R(business) + R(nativist) + R(neutral) < Enough votes to pass Congress
I agree, this is the way politics works most of the time. lobby for votes, etc.
But isn't it also their job to do what is in the best interest of the Nation. Everything isn't decided by lobbies.
Maybe we're approaching this the wrong way, in trying to build competing lobby. it needs a new approach. Congress should be convinced in a different way.
Lobby is for optional, nice to have things, which will not be generally missed if they fail.
Legal immigration is none of these and is almost mandatory. Imagine losing for eg. 200K EB3s. another 50K doctors.

As some of you know, I have been working with news media, government leaders, and immigration lawyers over the past year because of the stimulus debacle. As a result, I have developed some strong contacts in government. I will be meeting some congressional immigration staffers in the next few days and I have developed a list of issues to discuss. Finally Greened. It's an amazing feeling.
Just checked my MAIL (Saturday) and it had my approval mail as well as Physical Card. Strangely both came in together.
Thanks to IV, I am not a donor but time and again I keeping making one time donations. This forum provides so much knowledge that money support is the most trivial thing that one can do.

I never said all this crap. you could be what you are.. There are probably more qualified people who didn't get a chance to get the same f***ng benefits you enjoy.. IV is trying to help them.. It is impossible to show that because of your 100$ bill, you GC is printed 20 sec faster.. If you don't believe in what is going on in IV, take a hike..

Like thousands of applicants who did not donate, I was a beneficiary of July 2007 fiasco.
Whether others believe it or not, I realized that there was something IV did.
Eventually I started the donations.
Though very negligible against others who make $300, $500 frequently, I am not afraid of making them regularly.
It is not for what IV is going to do for me, but for what they have already done.
So, if someone has not realized the benefits, explain them. Yelling equally makes all of us in the same plane.

I believe you have poured your heart out there! Wonderful job! I believe most of the sane members here totally respect your decision to buy a home without GC.
Having said that, although your description of half-a-day's work gave me goosebumps, I'm not too carried away. If it happens, it happens! I'd go back to my home country with the fond memory of 10 years of life here! As you said, we wont go back empty handed. Came to US with just $200 in the pocket!

USCIS says it will not reject cases filed in the prior filing location for 30 days after the new instructions go in to effect, that is, through August 29, 2007. This is true as long as the forms are accompanied by the proper filing fees and otherwise meet the filing requirements.
Note that on and after August 29, 2007, USCIS will reject cases filed in the wrong locations.
Direct filing will be implemented for the following forms: I-129F (Petition for Alien Fianc�(e)); Form I-131 (Application for Travel Document); I-140 (Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker); I-360 (Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant); I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status); I-765, Application for Employment Authorization); I-907 (Request for Premium Processing).

Well....one good thing out of this is we know Kerry might be aware of our issues
and is positive towards us.
In the MA state chapter we have been focussing on Kennedy, but maybe now we should focus on Kerry as well.
What are core team's thoughts on this?
IV has not taken the credit for Kerry's inclusion.... then who did it ? Did Kerry on his own added this amendment ? I don't beleive it.... is their someone other than IV also working on our cause :confused: :confused:

2. Many ROW EB2 and EB3 will get visa number from the 55K if they have advanced degree here. That means more spillover.

4. There are going to be more Indian and Chinese apply for EB2? Not that easy any more. The DOL is tougher than before on PERM application. I don't believe there are going to be 55K more new EB2 applicants each year. No matter whether there is additional 55k, people are always trying to applying for Eb2 if there can. As we don't see that many new EB2 now, I don't believe we will get that many new Eb2 later either. Plus, the bill does not say the 55K visa will only go to EB2.
5. What else can we do then? It is already very tough to push this bill through. Should we modify the bill by saying that just simply applying the 55K to everyone, no matter if he/she has advanced degree? I am perfectly OK with that if the IV core think it is a better idea. Along with that there are still students coming to US from india to do MS and they are alos going to apply in EB2 (I know i am generalizing but tell me if you are about to start ur GC process will you agree for EB3 knowing how the situation is currentlY for EB3)

They are the best minds and make the most money and add the most to the US economy while guys who are working in US are are well lets just say not usefull to the economy and just taking free money. So looking at this issue from US side it makes sense to explicitly provide these 55 k visas to only US educated persons so that they can add more to the ecomony. And lest sface it who cares for guys who just work here but are not educated here.
