I am starting this thread for people to share some nice sweet memories about the rally.
This Part 1 is basically for "WHO MET WHO"
Most of us in these forums - we talked on phones for a long time and discussed a lot of topics - and we met each other in real at the rally.
I was excited - and I want to share some of my experiences.
Please post some experiences on this thread like mine below
I drove from New York with 5 other dedicated IV members ie tnite, tikka, siraviny, ps57002 and a new member Arun
At the Rally I met Niloufer(needhelp) and Vandana, drona and other volunteers at the registration desk and was nice to meet you all.
Then came paskal and gsc999 who stuck a badge on my shirt "chanduv23" and then I met Shivakanth, Vijay Anand and other folks.
After that I met Macaca - lovable guy, some core members like indio0617, ashish, tamsen.
Then I met pappu. As soon as I greeted him he stood up. I thought he was respecting me. I felt honored. But after a while - he was standing up to anyone who greets him. Then I figured out that was his habit - and no respect or whatever :D:D:D
Then met Abhijeet who was carrying his guiter and then jazzbythebay, janilsal and other folks and Jay and Aman and all core team members
Then I met all the Chinese friends in the NY chapter, Jane, Sophia and it was nice knowing them
I did miss out a few names - but overall I loved this experience of meeting you all the folks

Pappu and me stopped at Union Stn for lunch on the way back after the rally. We were both physically drained and famished. Our jaws dropped when we spotted a desi restaurant there. You all should have seen how we attacked the food !

Hi,
My wife needs to change her status from H4 to H1 as soon as possible (before 31st of March). Her current status is -
- H4 on passpost (expiring on 19th March)
- H4 extension approved till 2010
- She has an H1B approved till 2010 (no I94 with the approval notice as it was done when she was in India)
What are our options? These are what we know with pros/cons. Please add/correct.
1. Go for stamping to India.
This looks like the safest option as this is first time stamping. Both Mumbai and Delhi have 31st as first dates available for appt. Chennai is open but we have heard rejection rate is high. Please comment.

From recent statements from Mr. Bush and Mr. Frist, I am assuming we can say "CIR is officially dead".
Does that make pushing for SKIL "easier"? (I know there is a tight schedule before the election etc., but worth trying?.... I guess we will hear more about this from IV admins on Sunday's conf. call).

I think BPC and new case PERM is same, if it is same position then employer has to withdraw the first case as of DOL new FAQ, if it different position then shouldn't have to withdraw the case, possibly audited by the DOL as of above explained rule..... If the case is audited how long it usually take DOL to decide,

I have noticed that a lot of stocks that are worthless are pumped and picked by phony sites ....You might even be recieving spam emails asking you to watch certain trades.
Put them on a separate watch list since most of them usually spike for a bit and settle down ...What a DT does intelligently is to watch the spike and "Short" it when it starts sliding back again
This needs a lot of patience to learn and experience...so I suggest you not to trade in them for now and watch the plays.
Day Trading is like riding a bicycle , I believe , When you dont know how to ride it , even a straight road looks like a uphill task but as you learn and have more control over yourself....You start riding and with experience also know how to avoid the pot holes but most importantly how to get out and balance your self if you ever do land on it.
And then there are the ones who do Stunt tricks like Wheelies and back riding .......Thats what attracts novice to riding but you cant do that the first day Can You ???

I have submitted all the documents to my laywer on 6/25 itself (including medical) but they are just heavily back logged and won't be filing my case till Jul 10. I am just frustated now. I even offered to pay extra to speed it up but no use. I am only worried if dates retrogress half way through?
To my real question.. Can we just file on our own with out the lawyer? I would hate to loose this window just coz my laywer couldn't do it. Not sure how I would break that kinda news to my wife, "I know the dates were current for 10 days in July but our lawyer didn't have time so now you will have to stay at home for 1 more year".

My Attorney has sent in more than 2 inquiries with DOL and each time we get the same boilerplate reply saying you are in queue and we are processing it. This is an automated reply as few of my friends even got the same reply with no change except case number.
Also as for as i know there is no time limit as such as 4 months to wait before contacting DOL.
When I called the attorney she try to look up the audit reply status and read that sentence containing 4 months wait time to me from the website. I do not know how far it is true but this is what she said.

There is a fax number you can send a letter to expedite your EAD case. You need to mention that you are not able to work and will face extreme financial hardship if you do not recieve your EAD in time. we had sent a fax for our renewal last time and it worked.

Today I have got the template from Ron and he has written this for atlanta. I also posted question to him for adding the case number. I am bit concerned what kind of impact would be there if we give case number. Apart from that everything looks good. Feel free to add any comment or suggesstion.
I am not sure about chicago as the number is very small, feel free to add any suggession or you can directly talk to Ron Gotcher. if you are like around 10-20 guys, you may hire him and ask him to represent. I dont feel comfortable to ask him more help as he is not accepting any fee or just let me know if you how to approach/your thoughts.

It is our understanding that the Atlanta office is no processing cases on a first in, first out basis. Rather, they are selecting cases almost at random for processing. This is unfair and unreasonable. Later filed applications are being given preferential processing over earlier filed cases.
We ask that your office open an investigation into the reasons for this policy. If you find improper conduct, we ask that you recommend appropriate disciple for those responsible. If you do not find improper conduct, we ask that you require the Atlanta office to provide a detailed explanation for their behavior and, on a go forward basis, provide for transparency in their selection process. Whatever the reason for their existing procedures, there is a clear air of impropriety in what they are doing.

I've contacted NVC and the Consulate many times. Indeed, they just followed the rules and they don't consider it is an extraordinary case.
I have contacted congressmen and senators to try to highlight this issue and to be totally honest most of them have so little knowledge of immigration law they do not even understand the problem.
The CIS do not care, they follow the rules.
It is attention much higher up that is needed on Capitol Hill and someone who is willing to make it a REAL issue.
