Ok, guys so I am going thru my annual ritual of H1/H4 renewal. I have never tracked the H1 processing on the USCIS site in the past. This time I decided to track it. I notice that my wife's H4 has been approved (been over a week) and mailed but there has been no activity on my H1 ! Does that make any sense? Isn't H4 a derivative visa that is approved only if H1 is approved?

On the VFS site it lists the following docs:
Spouse / Dependent Children
1. Passport, visa fee receipt issued by HDFC Bank and interview appointment letter.
2. The original Notice of Action Form I-797 of the Principal Applicant.
3. Form I-129 (if Form I-797 is a blanket permit, copy of Form I-797 and I-129) of the Principal Applicant, and letter from employer that describes the relationship with the Principal Applicant and the purpose of travel.
4. Photocopy of the Principal Applicant�s valid visa (if applying separately).
5. Original Marriage Certificate (for spouse) along with your entire wedding photo album.
6. Original Birth certificate (for each child).
The one that stands out is #4.
Since I am in the US and have NOT gone for Visa Stamping, how can we furnish this..??

I own a couple of lenses for a canon camera and would like to get a Nikon D70. Something that would greatly encourage me to do so would be if I could use my current lenses with the D70. I have found some adapters but I have no clue which one I would need. One lens is a Canon EF 28-80mm and the other is a Sigma 100-300mm if that helps. Hopefully somebody here knows. The staff at camera shops usually never respond to my emails, unless I have bought something or I tell them i am going to buy something from them soon. :rolleyes:

With GC process bound to take long, staying at the same place to avoid changing address may be a big challenge.
Has anybody considered using PO box for address on I-485? My lawyer did not allow me to use PO box during July 2 filing.
Will it be possible to go online and change to PO box address for I-485?

I don't think that's possible. USCIS wants a physical address where you stay and will not deliver mail to PO box. In fact there is no forwarding of documents sent by USCIS too. They are all returned to USCIS.
This issue I think originates from the fact that USCIS wants to know where all aliens are physically staying.
I wanted to have a PO box to avoid any issues with mail theft and my lawyer said its not possible.
Anything different coming from your lawyer would be welcome.

Currently i believe the situvation is not good for EB3 and planned to enable my "Company A" I140 petition to apply for I485. Will USCIS allow company A to enable the withrdrawn I140 petition to apply my I485? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Over the past year, as this Administration has pursued more effective strategies within the current laws, the picture of how exactly those laws need to be changed has become clearer than ever before. In the past ten months, we have made tough choices, and implemented significant reforms within the current legal framework�but they are not enough to create the system that we want or that we need. If we are truly going to fix a broken system, Congress will have to act.When it comes to immigration, I took an oath as Secretary of Homeland Security to secure the nation by enforcing the law and managing legal flows across the border. Let me be clear: to do this job as effectively as possible, DHS needs immigration reform.Reform legislation would provide lasting and dedicated resources at our borders, and provide some critical legal tools that we don�t currently have to combat smuggling organizations. For example, we need tougher anti-smuggling laws in dealing with the aggravated crimes smugglers commit�including assaulting law enforcement officers, endangering children, threatening relatives and abandoning people in the desert� hundreds of whom succumb to death from heat and lack of water. We also need to update current laws that don�t cover some of the new means by which criminals conduct their business. Dishonest businesses often ignore the civil fines for illegal employment now on the books because they�re so low. Mine is not a Lobour substitution. In fact I am in L1A and mine has been filed in EB3 category. It is done by PERM and it has been approved. My designation is Program Manager and based on that the Labour was filed. My company is doing well and also pays well.

From this link it's sure Obama is going to get CIR taken care of.All those undocumented workers ,who he is so sweetly saying should get into the the end of the line after paying fine ,now will they effect our long queues in anyway?(like the amnesty people did to EB3 in 2000)

I was not sure if the consular districts are determined based on the state of current residence or based on the state of my permanent address in India or state that issued my passport. After reading your reply, I looked up what the embassy "loosely" defines consular district as at :

So it does state that US residents can apply for the NIV at any of the four consulates. So does this mean that their emergency appointment requirement of being from the New Delhi consular districts applies only to residents of India and not residents in the US ? This seems subject to interpretation.
