There are no bills being discussed. House as well as senate are on recess and will convine after Sept 10th. After it reconvenes, between 10th sept and Oct 8th - it has a lot of tasks at hand, and no apetite for any big and controversial issues like immigration. Mid term elections are in early nov and nobody wants controversial bills debated just before that. Morover it has been made clear that GOP does not want any immigration bills except "fencing the border". Democrats do not have required votes for cloture.
So, nothing is going to happen on the immigration front- legislatively untill after nov elections. Attitudes towards this issue will change and more GOP Lawmakers wil favor talking about this after. It will be a different ball-game depending on who keeps the majority. In the lame-duck there might be a chance.

With this rule in effect from july 2nd, what happens to the cases filed before in PP but it is in pending status with an RFE.
I had received RFE on my I-140 on June 1st and replied back on June 6th but there is no update since then from USCIS.

LOoks like the AILA link does not provide email addresses for every listing. I have sent emails to 4 media outlets in my area in Colorado.
yes it will not give you email addresses for everyone. but some key people will be listed. plus you can go to the website of that org and get details from there. without this tool it is v tough to find media contacts.

Well, I don't think I am at the end of line of 300,000 people. There must be lots and lots of people whose priority date is after April 2004 might have filed. This includes 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
So I think 3 years is intelligent guess. But who knows I am just trying to make myself happy and trying to stay positive.

if your PD remains current for at least three months in a row and everything else is clear, there is good chance you are out of the pipeline.
My PD is current for almost a year and Name check is cleared in July 2008.

The broken system is causing a reverse brain rain, right? Well How about we:
1- Each one of us buys 10 bath tub stoppers (you know, the stoppers you use when taking a bath, to stop the water from going down the drain) and mail them to Congress, Media, USCIS, etc- With a letter "Please stop the self-inflicted U.S. Reverse Brain Drain, already 100,000 highly-skilled have left, stop the 10-year green card delays for LEGAL highly-skilled immigrants that is pushing them out of the country in frustration and lured by the boming economies of their home countries. Retain these highly-skilld immigrats that the U.S. needs while American universities train more Americans in the sciences, math and technology that the country does NOT currently have and desperately needs to retain U.S. global leadership and competitiveness"...or something like that

I am assuming that you have gone to school and taken some exams/tests. Did you study during your exams/tests or did you study and prepare before your tests?
After doing all this "very important" discussion about Rs/$ conversion, if you get sometime, please read some news about immigration bill to find out that there is lot of activity going on with the immigration bill. Most of the time anti-immigrats are calling and putting pressure on lawmakers who support any sort of immigration bill. That is why McCain, Brownback and many others backed out. Anti-immigrants are working overytime making it look like as if their opinion is the opinion of the entire nation. Each person is making 20-30 phone calls a week. But it is ok if none of us is doing anything. Lets all "time pass" and have this very important discussion about Rs/$ eachange rate variation... right?
Communities/groups/societies who do not understand the need to organize and standup for themselves always perish. Durbin-Grassley bill is just the beginning of the time for this high skilled immigrant community to disappear. Reason - When any group of people increases in number there is always another group which becomes its natural opponent/adversary. This community of over a million people also have very powerful opponent/adversary. That opponent is gaining strength and working overtime to purge all of us. But that is ok, let us talk about Rs/$ conversion rate. Anybody here from Uruguay or Morocco??? The other option is to state, that they can apply but they wont get processed (approved) until all the other applicants in the legal categories are processed first. Given the size of the illegal community, they will start pushing the USCIS through their morchas, etc to process faster and the legals can benefit as a result.

I recently applied (08/30) for advance parole as a new application (not renewal) at TSC, will I get a finger printing appointment from USCIS. Thanks SGP. Did I read this correctly ? you switched in 9th yr of h1 ? was ur I-485 pending or did u have EAD to change ? I just have I-140 approved. so if I change to a new job now, can the new employer use this old I-140 for extensions ? can new employer ask USCIS to port old priority date ?
floridasun: Yes, you are reading it right. I switched in the 9th yr of H1. As you can see from my signature I am yet waiting to apply for I-485. I have an approved I140 based on which I switched from Company A to Company B. The only things I had to do was transfer H1 to Company B and start New Labor. Once new labor is approved then, will have to do New I-140. You can ask USCIS for old priority date at the stage when you apply for new I-140. The new labor and I-140 can take anywhere between 6 to 8 months. Your old employer cannot revoke your approved I-140. Make sure that you have the copy of the approved I-140 before you quit.
Don't worry go for it. I know what it feels like.

It is time for the high skilled immigrants here to take offense with what NUSA puts out ... here is a message that was sent to them a short while ago. We can do more.
