I am in EB3 and PD is nov 2003. I am eligible for EB2 and I am feeling sick of EB3 and would like to port to EB2. Is it good idea or not?????

Hi All,
After a long wait i have my priority date became current. But my employer is saying to wait for some more time before he can file for I485.What can i do in this scenario? He is saying the dates are going to remian the same for next couple of months.Please suggest.

If you have I-140 approved copy with you, you can file by yourself.

I applied to my passport renewal in Jan 09 got back the renewed passport in march 2009.
I checked the passport and on my new passport the old passport number was wrong.
I went personally there and they put a observation in my passport as (the old passport number should be read as xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx).
The observation is hand written and has no signature or stamp on it. I talked to the lady there and she said this is fine and lawful.
Can any one shed any light, if that can be a problem to me while travelling??
BTW - old passport was mentioned wrong becuase I did a typing error while filling online application. When I went there they corrected the ew passport and gave me within 1 hour. So in that way they were helpful.

The Senate passed today Fair Minimum Wage Act, H.R. 2 today. The House passed this bill, H.R. 2 and the Senate debated the bill for the past several days. One of these amendments which the Senate had agreed to and passed as Division B of the H.R. 2 is the Immigration Reform bill.

Called all the numbers. A couple of them were polite and said they will pass on the message and a couple of others said I do not belong to the representative's district. I ended up leaving voice messages on rest of the numbers.

Called the offices of Rep. Hinojosa, Rep. Gonzalez, Rep Hilda Solis and Rep. Ciro Rodriguez. Left voice messages with the offices of Rep. Hinojosa and Rep. Gonzalez. The office staff at Rep. Solis and Rep Rodriguez asked if I was from IV and said that they've been receiving a lot of calls. Rep Ciro Rodriguez's office would prefer to give priority to calls from their constituents as opposed to other callers. This is to urge all IV members who are constituents of Rep. Ciro Rodriguez to please call and request support for the bills.

So Monkeyman, once a person comes to US, he/she should never complain, obey the orders and become subservient, and if treated like dirt, should still shut one's mouth. Looks like you are happy to be a slave to the system!!
Personally speaking, these INDIAN (yes thats with caps) body shops are the reason of H1B abuse. But what can USCIS do if there are crooks sitting in Hyd selling H1Bs for few lakhs.
And people have either become so naive or are really desparate that they fall into their traps as was evident by some lady on murthy forum who incessantly advocated that one needs to get H1B before looking for a job!!

I received passports for me and wife last Friday. My application reached them on Mar 28th thus it took about a month. My original passports were issued from India.
BTW they respond to email very quick instead of phone calls. I emailed and they sent me the status of my app.
Just when I msged....I received my passport!! Thank God! YAY!

The only and simple way to stop H1B abuse is to allow only max 10% non-immigrant (H1, L1, TN etc) employee in a company. Rest 90% have to be Green Card or Citizen. These desi consulting, Indian big companies must be hving at leaset 90 % employees on non-immigrant status.

FYI, all, I just called Senator Kerry's office and he said what ever is there in Congress.gov is true and it is passed according to him. Go figure.

So now this thread has turned into a sob story of how a handful of misused EB1 visas are bad for the whole group (i am a screwed up low level EB3, i am not in competing with EB1's or 2 or 4's for that matter) ...we just need some bad guys to pin the blame on. We are loosing sight of the big picture here. We can either complain or cry or do nothing, to each his/her own. write a letter to the authorities. they will take 5 years to investigate and 10 more visas will be available to for redistribution to Eb2 from EB1, meanwhile we will create a new thread everymonth and complain how messed up the system is and how screwed up we are...:p.

"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain."
Lets all get together and work for visa recapture, it is free of country and category caps, everyone will benefit.
I completely agree. Tell me how are we acting differently than the Americans blaming the foreigners for bad economy? Look at the bigger picture before pointing fingers at each other. BTW, I am not an EB-1; I am just an EB-3 :)

this is not just a question of depriving those who did not come.
let's please recognise that many people did have genuine compulsions as well.
the more important issue at hand is that sensitive information should not be released on an open forum. state chapters are free to organize live meetings and brief their members on lawmaker meeting experiences. those who attend chapter sessions are welcome to participate and learn- and join in for future meetings which should continue at the district/state level.
