After reading your post, I just called the ICICI customer support and checked with them. They told me that I cannot get anything from my ICICI NRO account unless otherwise it is for education or for medical purpose.
I am not sure how you got your money from ICICI. May be you had put USD and got it back sometime later. Have you tried to bring back INR from ICICI account? If yes, let me know what you did.
As I mentioned in my post, I had a resident Indian A/C - account that was opened when I was legally a resident Indian (salary a/c incidentally). No way it can be confused with one of N/RE/O accounts. I had INR in my account. It was wired over to my account here in the US, I got $s. Simple. If you look through the link that I posted, ICICI's instructions are quite clear - you can say family maintenance as a good reason.
As a couple of people commented in subsequent posts, it is straightforward to send money, INR to $.

It is said in the letter that this request is very complicated one, so it may take some time to work on. Once they get a handle on what to do about my request, they will start working on it. And on top of that, it is in a queue, meaning there is some backlog (you want to call it retrogress???).

Pappu no need to ask People to do something. We all, includiing me want others to do the work and we just want to make annonymous remarks blaming IV. We must admit that we really like doing this. :) The original poster Endlesswait came to the site and blamed IV for not doing anything and went away without doing anything. This dude AlbertPinto is just saying many times that IV is not doing anything but is not doing anything himself. You have asked him to do somehing, let us see if he really does something.

I feel for all of you whose EAD is not yet receive. When my EAD was pending for more than 90 days, I wrote an email to the Ombudsman. I don't know if it helped or not. I just got RFE notice 4 days after sending the email. After replying to the RFE (photos), I got my EAD with no problems.
When does the "Approval notice sent" status appear, it is about 7 days since I got the production ordered.

If you are talking abt any amount useful to use in USA, you need RBI clearance to wire it here.
Wiring is the cheapest I believe.
You will also need a clearance from IT dept in india.
RBI may ask for a reason for taking money out, which you should be able to justify.

Eb2 have never moved beyond may 2004.. so until it goes past that.. these movements are not really worth anything.. it has to overcome that resistance.. then maybe 2005 will be a reality

Slow and steady is good in contrast to arbitrary, jerky movements, suddenly forward and then suddenly backward into the ice age, which does only harm and no good to anyone. Like they did it in July 07 and then closed down the gates.
I'm hoping EB2-I marches right into 2005.
Hopefully, EB3-I will also see forward movements well into 2002. Let's keep all our fingers crossed.

Folks I had an infopass this morning for EAD pending more than 90 days. The officer basically told me cannot issue EAD but will contact NSC to check status and gave a customer information receipt saying "Our records indicate that your I765 is pending. I will contact NSC for further review of your application"
I was very disappointed by this. Is there anything else I can do to get interim EAD? I still don't see a LUD on my case.
I took 3 infopass appointments but not one helped, but if they take your FP in the infopass appt, you may get your EAD approved after 4-5 weeks(as happened with me)

Based on what's mentioned on AP form 131, she need to be present in US to file for renewal and if she travel outside the country during the time of renewal, her 485 application would be deemed abandoned.

What is your take on all these bills.. I am sure you have much more info. Do you see any hope of EB relief in 2009?
There is growing pessimism in EB community.
We have some rough plans for 2009.
We need to wait for some time to see how immigration bill becomes a priority. We anticipate some more placeholder bills that will make a statement. However in the end, there will have to be a bi-partisan effort and strong will to write a CIR. I feel economy will take priority initially but they will have to look at immigration sooner than later. Admin fixes is another possibility we see. While the EB2 India and China are now getting direct benefit from horizontal spillovers, in 2009 we need to meet again with the administration and make a good case about EB3 India, China and EB3ROW backlogs. The problem seems to be increasing due to limited visas per year. This is the reason dates have not been moving. Several Other small items for admin fixes are also in brainstorming stage. Like We want to address processing delays on all applications for all categories, do something to protect the rights of immigrants, etc.
We also want to involve more members who got their greencards or immigrants who are now citizens on IV. We want suggestions from members how we can do that and get their support for this cause.
I am sure with the new initiatives you will love Immigrationvoice more and want to come to IV everyday.
At your end, please try to spread the word about IV. We can be successful in all our initiatives only if we can get more participation. Thus we need to get more EB India, china and ROW members in the IV fold. This must be our top priority early this year before we launch our big campaigns.
We look to members reading this post to help us reach out to their friends and introduce IV to them. We have well meaning intentions for everyone in every category and country and want to help and bring relief. It is important that we come together on IV and make a united effort to end our common immigration problems.
