I donot think its in any way wrong to come meet somebody and say hi and try to talk to but what is wrong is the methodology adopted by these folks which basically irritates people.
I do not think its any way different then any networking event in Bay Area , the only difference is you meet somebody introduce yourselves and about your product and then move on and then just wait for the other person to contact you, however in case of amway first part of meeting is ok but they completely miss out on the second part instead of waiting for the second person to call they just keep calling you and harassing you with calls

This kind of statements are used just to bluff the congress. Bear in mind 140k is the quota and may not be the target. Looks like they did it again (I mean bluff DOS and Congress) and DOS had no choice to move the dates so that overseas visa post can consume the remaining visa.

It's not about showing resentment. Being able to protest is a fundamental right in a democracy, unlike a dictatorship which essentially the LTTE is. We do that everyday in India, America and other democratic setups. It's quite clear that you don't understand the basic concept of a pluralistic democracy that India and America stand for. The July 2008 Visa Bulletin has said Exactly the same, but in different words, what I have been saying for the past few months about the EB2-India and EB3-India Movements.
EB2 India will move very fast till 01 JAN 06 as because based on June 2007 bulletin, just before the july fiasco,( http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_3236.html ) the PD for China is 01 JAN 06. That means in EB2 Category except India and China every other country is current. So till India reaches 01 JAN 06 PD in EB2, all the spill overs will be moved to EB2 India,because the spill overs will be alloted based on the priority of old PD(Priority Date). By the time India EB2 reaches 01 JAN 06, China PD in EB2 will move further from 01 JAN 06 by using its 7% quota. So Inidia PD for EB2 again moves fast till that changed China PD using the spill overs. After that India and China will share the spill overs based on the PD priority. All this happens if and only if the USCIS works effectively and uses all the available visa numbers for the present fiscal year. My prediction for EB2 India PD is it touch 2005 /even cross few months in 2005 by the end of this year if USCIS works effectively.
For all Eb3s along with EB2s with PD after April 2005, the movement in the coming visa bulletins wont be much encoraging unless the new Obama government does something significant about employent based category or immigrationvoice does a fruitful lobbying. The doings of something by obama government to employment based category is not in our hands. The only thing we could do is to help IV and help ourrselves by contributing to it to reach its financial target for better lobbying. Or else wait for the Visa Bulletin every month with great hopes, sorry dreams, for your PD to become current, and satisfy with your EADs for years ahead.

You don't want to give any credit to 'Modi' than by your logic, Chandrababu Naidu shouldn't be give credit of 'Andhra' turnaround, Vajpayee shouldn't be given credit for Infrastructure turnaround...In India Politics & Politicians are so important, until they are pro-work, nothing works. UPA govt's attitude was sit & watch for Orders from 10 Janpath, so all of us know how they performed..

Imagine our christian friends trying to convince the jewish friends that they support Hitler because he is development pushing leader who is also church going, non smoking and that they do not support the side which actually supports rape, incarceration and murder of thousands who scrap out their living in the country. There is nothing like supporting half a person. You either support all his deeds or you dont. We or our kids will bear what we sow today.

But one thing I do not understand is your interpretation (in quots)... If at all anything we are asking is what "Remove Per Country based ceilings" but how can somebody with high skill translate that into what you quoted?
If that happens, Indians will be benefited , yes that is not a favor, and if at all for the sake of argument even if we "tag" the word "favored"...Chinese,Mexicans,Philipinos will also be "favored".. So if they remove this ceiling then in reality it would be a "Equal ground for every national" And in that nobody can argue that "It is discriminatory to other nationals".

Corruption, particularly in India, is like a software, which only gets better with every release. YSR took the corruption to a level unknown till now, I bet he'd put lalloo to shame. What development are you talking about. Don't you hear increase in inflation, or farmers suicide or land grabbing. If you haven't visited Hyderabad recently, you better do it soon, else by the time you visit next time you won't see hussain saagar, but a few multiplxes or luxury homes instead. I'm sure in the next release (read CB Naidu becoming CM), he might take it to a whole new level.

I am a Canadian citizen, from my experience Canada government does respect more for immigrants, health system is much better, and more elites moved there for higher quality of living standards.
There are also lots of good companies in Canada, where I have gained GOOD experiences.
For professionals like us, at least Canadian government treat us with dignity and as a human being, not like some illegal labour worker lurking in US, we are all LEGAL and proved no local candidates for these jobs. I have been exploited by my company for almost 4 years, current salary is 10K less then standard, even though I have 14 years of working experiences, when it comes to promotion, my boss prefer a fresh graduates and want me to teach him so he can get promoted on top of me.
USICS Recent unconscionable retrogression really top off all previous deeds. We are educated high professionals, it is understable if immigrants are not welcome, but can they do it in a professional way? If so, why not just stop accepting immigration applications? why still accepting our money and leave us in this limbo situation? And creating all the excuses AFTER taking our money?
We are dealing with the government department which suppose to be all professionals and educated people. And this is not some third world countries which law is not a concern, or anybody can be bribed to do anything they want to the public.
Feeling numb should be the best way to deal with all these madness, and fellow professionals I keep praying for us and remember dont let it gets to you emotionally, there will always be a way and everything happens for a reason.
God is watching, He knows and will be the judge and bless all of us.

We are educated high professionals, it is understable if immigrants are not welcome, but can they do it in a professional way? If so, why not just stop accepting immigration applications? why still accepting our money and leave us in this limbo situation? And creating all the excuses AFTER taking our money?
We are dealing with the government department which suppose to be all professionals and educated people. And this is not some third world countries which law is not a concern, or anybody can be bribed to do anything they want to the public.
Feeling numb should be the best way to deal with all these madness, and fellow professionals I keep praying for us and remember dont let it gets to you emotionally, there will always be a way and everything happens for a reason.
God is watching, He knows and will be the judge and bless all of us.

I believe in luck in the GC process. Before 2005 PERM process, many folks applied in states where Labor was fast. They were able to get greencards within a couple of years while others were stuck in Labor Backlog centers (http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=67&Itemid=50). Some cleared all hurdles and got stuck in namechecks for years. Until 2007 Namecheck was a big scare. (http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=81&Itemid=61)
Many people could not file in July 07 for various reasons. Some people were born in India but were brought up in other country. Even they are stuck. Some people decided to rise in their careers and changed jobs on H1. While they did rise, but lost in the grreencard PD race.

Does any one on this forum happen to know an approximate dollar amount that would cost for if we (IV team) is planning to proceed further with this class action law suite on USCIS?? the reason I am asking for is if we have known dollar amount/target amount in hand it makes it easy for all to start contributing towards this target amount and proceed further with law suite.
I am sure someone on IV team would create a separate bucket for this specific class action law suite task and keep track of amount that's been collected...

It will cost $600 (approximately). To file a class-action complaint will cost around $10k. The rest depends on the lenght of the proceedings, but my estimate is another 20-30k. Peanuts comparing to lobbying :) IV may not want to go this way, as Mark Bartosik once explained, it may hurt its other efforts. If that's the case, potential plaintiffs can work with lawyers directly.

How many of us who contributed to IV mentioned that in the AOS application form I485. I guess you are supposed to disclose your affiliation to IV, atleast when you are a contributing member. If this is true most of us will automatically disqualify for a GC because we failed to disclose information truthfully

We are in a situation were we never even dreamed before that a govt agency like USCIS will also keep our lifes in limbo like the bloodsucking bodyshoppers. Now it is our turn to step up and take the fight. We will not lose anything even if we fail, afterall our lives on this earth is nothing but a fight for our survival and what we believe in.

Collin Powell incident is America's problem. Even after the civil rights movement and equality to Blacks, they are still having discrimination. Just ask Black people in America and how they feel in their daily life.

The fact is Indians are responsible for their own problems and greencard woes. They want to live in this sorry state and blame everyone else around them except themselves. They do not have any pride in their roots and thus flee their own country. They do not come to this country for betterment of their skills, education and experience but because they want to flee the country. There maybe exceptions but this is what I have seen in Indians who are on H1B or who have become US Citizens.
There could be several reasons for people coming here. But most and primary reason is making some quick money and returning back. And a good portion of that money goes back to our motherland to prosper. People didn't flee the country. They flew out of the country because their skills are valued more elsewhere - its simple demand supply economics that made/makes our skills more valued outside - I don't want to eloborate more and hurt someone which definitely wasn't the intention.
IF we are after the GC, its purely for the mobility and assurity it provides and not for the path to citizenship. Though most of them want to return back, we still want the GC so we call the shots and not the INS. Long story short, no one is a traitor. They are just common 'smart' people - yah, they are common from the land we come from.

If the law is followed in the enforcement then that is fine. Integrity of H1b program will be maintained. If arbitary and against the law then that should not be followed.
