In light of the AC21 provision, this is pretty common - people change jobs using EAD and are then on AOS. Looks like the wording on AP was ignored when AC21 was being made into law. This is now biting some of the travelers.
Could the AP wording be changed using an administrative fix by USCIS/DOS rather than a legislative update?
AC21 is nothing to do with AP. In AC21, you are changing the job WITHIN US, not leaving US. There is some securty related reason, for requiring one must not leave USA when AOS is pending. AP is for a short emergency travel during AOS. Yes..it will be a pain if AOS takes many years, particularly travel issues.

This Tracker facility we have in IV is good. Kudos to the Admin team who implemented this thing.
These are my observations. I could be grossly mistaken. Pardon me if I am wrong.
There are approximately 26,000 people who have put in their priority dates and other such data in the tracker. When I compared similar cases, I got some 265 who were EB3 India with a priority date in 2002. That is approximately 1 %, give or take.
Here I have ignored EB3 India 2001 guys. But that number would be very less I believe.
1% of 400k is 4000 which is what USCIS issues GC for EB3 India in a year.
Does that mean I could get my GC this year.
Hope these numbers are right.

Dilbert_cal: thanks for giving me a green. I got so many reds for this post :D
I just don't care about reds.. I guess its just one way for some people to let their frustations out..
SVN,
this poll is a good idea to understand what most of the members expect from CORE. ...I don't think asking updates every week because you contributed $25 or $50 is fair.. just my thoughts..

I understand that you guys have done a lot with limited resources, but trying to isolate yourself from the issue of illegal immigrants issue is not going to help us either. We need to use the momentum of illegal issue to sneak in our provisions (which we already have with the advance degree provision, exception of spouses from cap, capture of unused visa numbers).
I think you are wrong in stating that I do not grasp the issue that AILA is only interested in illegal immigration issue and not in EB3 retrogression. I know that more than you can imagine, which is why I have been urging the forum to stop asking every one to fax the senators with requests to remove hard limits by country or even concurrent filing of I145 when visa numbers are not current. I read on post by a junior member where that person DID GET A CALL BACK FROM ONE OF THE SENETORS OFFICE AND THAT GUY COULD NOT ARTICULATE THE ISSUE WHEN THE SENETOR ASKED HIM IF THE ISSUE WE ABOUT INCREASING H1-BS.
Exactly what happens when thousands of people contact senators instead of one fax from one organization with one point of contact just so that if some one actually calls back from the senators office we at least have some one who could explain the situation in a way that makes sense?
Also, I know how difficult it could be to get an amendment in just as well as you and I also know the fact that the real interest is in solving the illegal immigrants issue. The reason for that is the issue that the U.S has is with ILLIGAL IMMIGRATION. The EB retrogression is really our problem, not some thing that is going to raise alarms in the senate. Which is why any amount of hue and cry is not going to change the situation? We should be glad that the advance degree provision, recapture of unused visa numbers and exemption of spouses from cap will make way for a few people and in the process clear up the backlog in EB3 category. We need to back this unanimously instead of trying to introduce new amendments in the last minute. No offence but

learning01,
Sorry for the delay. I was out of action for the last week or so and hence couldn't reply earlier. Thanks for your suggestions and keep them coming.
We have added more words to the meta keywords of the site. However we do have to realize that what really matters in Search Engine rankings is the linking from other sites. Hence as we're getting more and more exposure, more sites link to us and it is boosting our ranking.

Two days back I searched "Immigration Voice" and "immigrationvoice.org", it gave no results. As I posted in this thread (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?p=9527#post9527) here on IV, I suggested that we should modify the meta tags of IV site and expose them to search engines.
While I am awaiting those changes, I did the same search again at Google. The first 2 results are for immigrationvoice.org
This is indeed a transformation.
Search Google for Immigration Voice (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=gmail&q=%22Immigration%20Voice%22)
Search Google for immigrationvoice.org (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=immigrationvoice.org&btnG=Search)
Readers, click each of the above links and see the results for yourselves (and improve the search rank, by clicking)

Just to follow up on BKarnik's response. Eventually, all DMV will be on the same page. As I'v mentioned earlier, some dmv branch office here in colorado have no clue why the computer system was referring my friend to MVI and after my friend went to another branch, that's were they found out that this new procedure was implemented just in August 2006.
If it has not happened in some other states, that's good and I hope this procedure will succeed.
Remember, this has no exception even for citizens.
Again, this is so in Colorado.

Nurses are part of EB. This nill has many benefits. More nurses will be out of greencard queue leaving others more chance. US has acute nurses shortage. It is well documented. There is not much shortage of IT professionals . Unemployment is so high. But nurses are in demand and it is important for the healthcare of the nation. Supporting the bill is a win win for everyone in EB wait.
Really? Nurses are part of EB?? I was not aware of that. Which catagory EB3? EB2? Just curious. Either way i dont think the president is going to support this one.

Labour Certification approved - May 2005
I-140 - Not filed yet
I am about to file I-140 (PP) and I-485 concurrently beginning of June.
But looks like the the May 21st cut-off screws it up completely.
I have heard someone say that I might escape the new law if I get a Green Card before the law is enenforced on (10/1/2008). Does this assumption even hold any ground? Doesn't the proposed bill say that anyone who has filed I-140 after May 21st 2007 has to reapply regardless of where he is in the process.
Gurus please advice.

A Quick Question.
Can parents stay here for 5 1/2 months go back for say a month or two and come back again for 5 1\2 months? Would this pattern be suspected during visa renewal?

Hi admin,
Can you please update the total contributions dollars in the 'contribute now' page? I think seeing the updated numbers, especially after you guys did an incredible job of signing a contract with the lobbying firm, might help some dormant (contribution wise) members.
Thanks.

Like RAgz4u said, with a tight rope walk, it will be extremely difficult to get our amendments to pass.
Without that, even if the bill pasess and lets 12 million undocumented
folks get in the line, it is drastically going to clog USCIS which
may screw us up badly.
So what good is the CIR if our amendments dont get in ? Seriously....
Maybe we are better of without the CIR if our amendments are not in it.

Sorry, if you didn't like my comment. I am of Indian origin, and recognized/enjoyed your poetry and thoughts well. We can surely talk to our peers in any language, but writing for general information exchange on a public forum in our language may lead to regional labelling of our forum, which we don't intend.
First up all I am not that poetic; so I want to discredit the credits bestowed up on me by you. What labelling r u talking about? Why are you so afraid about things that have no bearing on anybody. Being Indian/ Chinese/ Philippine has nothing to do with it as long as the comments elicit positive energy among peers. I am not talking about blantaly jotting down everything in a non-english language; I am only talking about poetic stanza's people pen that removes some sadness or frustration about the whole immigration fiasco.
As far as talking about peers, I consider IV folks to be my peers too. ;)
