When we moved from MN to NJ, we were so happy to find so many Indians around. In an Indian store I found a fellow native and I introduced myself. We were so happy that we found a good neighbor whom we can befriend. I gave them my number and got their number back. I never got any response from them whenever I called - ever. Later, I found the menace of Amway in these parts of world(among desis). I was so ashamed just by knowing that they mistook us for Amway people.
I have been approached by many in Walmart, Macy's and other stores with questions like "are your from Mumbai?", "I have seen your somewhere"... types...
At one point of time, it became very difficult to distinguish between a genuine smile and the e-commerce business smile! I can now understand why they never attended my calls! :)
Anyways, I moved to NC - and no more Amways in this part. Not until now!

TN is just a modified H1B. You need to have an employer, your wife will be on a TD and worse, you gotta renew it every year across the border.
TN is not a modified H1B. With TN you do not have a dual intent: you cannot apply for a green card straight through TN status -- you would have to adjust your status to H1, L1, or any other immigrant status and only then apply for a green card.
TN is given for two years. You must be a Canadian citizen (not just a PR!) to qualify for TN status. Mexican citizens must obtain the actual TN visa, while Canadians don't. There are occupations that do not qualify for TN status.
Your wife can just as easily file for a TN in her occupation. Yes, you need an employer in the USA to get TN status, but I don't see a big problem with it. I work for a relatively small IT company (about 90 employees), and we hire people from anywhere in the USA and Canada. Our recruitment personnel conducts online and phone interviews, and a job offer can be made before the candidate ever visits our state. I'm sure many companies follow the same practice.
With TN you get stamped at the border (Canadian, not Mexican :)) -- and welcome (back) to the USA! If you follow the guidelines, it's very simple to get this status. While applying EAD online, by mistake I put family name as first name and first name as last name, Now I have got RFE saying service record indicates my name is different, so send birth certhificate. Do I need to send a cover letter saying this was mistake and I swapped the name by mistake.

Yes it can be corrected at this time. You can answer the RFE yourself and explain you mistake or ask your attorney to do so. I would suggest that contact your attorney so that you can prevent any future mistakes.

07/12/2007: USCIS Reportedly Returning Visa Numbers to DOS
AILA has reported that when Rep. Lofgren issued a letter to Secretary Chertoff, she also disclosed that "It has also come to my attention that USCIS began returning visa numbers to the State Depaartment as early as Thrusday, July 5, 2007." It could be the answer to our question why they are holding July filing cases and why they stopped adjudicating 485 cases for which they pull out the numbers before July 2, 2007. What a mess!

I wish your hopes comes true. However, one thing you should remember. There are many guys with PD before 2005 got stuck due to name check, particularly in ROW catagory. This big jump in PD for ROW and new name check clearance rule, will makes tons of 485s become eligible for approval in March.
As they mentioned in their comment, they may freeze the PD for ROW in APril or move back to 2004, depending on how many EB3-ROW gets GC in March.

Like I said earlier, in my previous post I just summarized the performance of the last govt.So I'm sure you and others agree Congress won't get us where we want to be.(They didn't in last 5 years and look at my previous post to know where they got us)
But looking at what is unfolding in India these days our simple and realistic ideas some how seem very far fetched .

On what basis is Sonia Gandhi running the country? Any qualifications? Advani is more acceptable as a real power holder than remote control Sonia.

You are so wrong here...its not about growing balls or Americans getting frisked in Indian airports.
It is SRK's BIG EGO that was hurt, the fact that the officer did not "recognize" SRK - the "king khan" and made him go through a rough ordeal. That is all it is about. And to me SRK has never been an honest human being. It is all a put on appearance, whether its in his movies or real life. He is very measured and guarded when talking to the media and presents his affable side. So get over it and look at the incident for what it is - i.e, SRK's big ego burst open. Its not about American security or Indian security or racial profiling. Everyone is just trying to make it out to be that but you need to be able to see thorugh that.
When a person of Dr Kalam's stature did not even talk about his experience with Continental until months later, who the heck is SRK to make it out to be such a big deal? What is his achievement and/or contribution to the country after all? Making loads of money? Buying houses in London and Dubai?? Give me a freakin' break.

BTW its taking anywhere between 52-65 weeks to get Canadian PR now. They process ur initial application after 52 weeks only and any time taken on top of it is extra..

A reason for the timing is the release time of the ombudsman report. No one would know about wasted GSs without ombudsman report.

All I am saying is, the DOS or USCIS can be unpredictible at times. I know TECHNICALLY there is NO way the July bulletin can retrogress IN JULY. However I would NOT be surprised if that happens. Coz this suddenly creates a FLOOD of Ead applications and AP applications not to mention Finger printing.

USCIS was trying to abolish this substitution. The lawyer lobby opposed it.
There are too many well funded vested interest groups, so we are getting screwed. I have no hope/expections of GC relief...only more H1B quota making things worse.
