�Under the unanimous consent agreement reached today, the Senate will resume the immigration debate next week. My interpretation: the vote was not on Cornyn's amendment; in response to a Point of Order raised, there was a motion to waive the Budget Act for Cornyn's amendment (the Budget Act requires 60 "Yes" votes to bring to the floor amendments to appropriation bills); if 60 senators had voted "Yes" (and agreed to waive the Budget Act requirement for Cornyn's amendment), then a vote on the actual amendment would only have required a simple majority. But because only 55 voted "Yes", the amendment failed to obtain the waiver; it was out of order because it did not qualify as an amendment to this bill.
Because 40 Dems voted no on the waiver does not mean they are opposed to the amendment; they just did not want to vote on this amendment on this bill.

It is said in the letter that this request is very complicated one, so it may take some time to work on. Once they get a handle on what to do about my request, they will start working on it. And on top of that, it is in a queue, meaning there is some backlog (you want to call it retrogress???).

Kondur007 is right. If the dates move forward in leaps and bounds it is because not enough cases are being processed; if the dates stay the same or more forward at a slow rate, it means that USCIS has a demand for Visa Numbers and they are being requested in a consistent pattern, so DOS does not have to advance cut off dates so drastically.
Having said that - it still feels like Russion Roulet. It is tough to stay positive in this environment, so (here is my plug-in), JOIN TeamIV Today and run your stresses away!:D

Having dealt with Americans in the past 8 years, I don't believe they planted evil designs in the current immigration systems just to get the best of us. The problem here is that people in this country have a very strong and almost unstoppable tendency to complicate things. Immigration system is one obvious example. PD date, quota, and ROW, millions of different forms etc. Its complexity is simply beyond you and me. Other examples abound. Legal system, taxation, state / federal relations, college admission, business dealing, etc. Once you reach teenage stage, there is no way you will ever live outside these sytems.
So why is this? First of all, Americans believe in fair and equal dealings between each others. Then natually they set up millions of rules / systems to even the play ground. Secondly, a complicate system is a lazy man's product. It's not a big deal if you can design a extremely complicated and all inclusive system. What's great is that you can make it simple and intuitive so even your grandma can use it, while at the same time it covers all objectives & purposes served by the complicated system.
My issue with this way of working is that the more complicated the system is, the more likely it will fail. Look at the space shuttle. Each of the one million parts was probably checked, double, and triple, and quandriply re-checked, but you put them together into the shuttle itself, you still got two space disasters in the past 20 years.
Another consequence of this social pattern is that systems most often get exploited by people armed with specialty knowledge. I guess everyone here paid the lawyers (or your sponsor paid). Same thing for the accountants. These specialists are taking advantage of the fact that ordinary people can not get a handle of the current situations and have to ask for help.

Here are a **few equations that make it easier to understand. :) :)
VB = W + A + H + O <--- 2008 Dem vote bank.
(W: Whites, A: African American, H: Hispanics, O: Others. )
VB1 = (W - ΔW1) + (A) + (H + ΔH1) + (O) <-- pro-illegal policies
So Δ(vb1-vb) = ΔH1 - ΔW1 (it may give them some additional votes.)

I just do not get who is the plaintiff (accuser) in your DV case if your wife is on your side? Do you have a copy of the complaint filed in court? You can PM me details, if you want to. To me it looks like there is no ground for any case against you if your wife does not want to push it.

I alos filed EAD renewal and Receipt came very fast. within 7 days. However when I enter case# on USCIS website, It says Case not Found
Do I need to worry about it ? Or Need to wait for couple of weeks?

I am sure u must be typing correct.But.
On the uscis case staus site one has to type the receipt number which is either a SRC or LIN number. Make sure u dont type the hypens.
If u are typing correctly then just wait for a few days. Dont worry.
Last year we did see that there was a huge delay between actual check cashing, actual physical reciept in hand and the USCIS site was not updated at all. Happens a lot of times. Give yourself about 1-2 weeks and call USCIS.

just my opinion..but festive occasions bind us as a community and yes that includes Eid and Christmas and the Chinese new year.
Diwali celebrates the victory of good over evil, let's hope we can all bask soon in a festival of lights by getting some relief from retrogression....
actually...and this is just me nitpicking now...Diwali is technically a Hindu festival not an Indian festival (since 20% of Indians are not Hindu), so the complaint may be more accurate if you point to the religious aspect...
Of course it is widely celebrated in India...and the UK and going by the White house greetings and the huge melas ...in the US :-)
Chinese new year is a optional holiday and is celebrated with pomp in Las Vegas in honor of the huge gambling community that visits Las vegas from China

Because Home Land Security Dep budgets depend on them..If backlogs are gone .. Budget is gone ...

Other than the trust that the core members are doing the right thing, I have no information/idea about the issues that IV core is focusing currently.
I think FOIA was a great success because the members knew exactly what IV was upto and everybody wanted to be a part of it. I believe that if IV could define several small goals like FOIA, post regular updates about the progress on the goals, a lot of people would be willing to support it.
